Piraeus is the main port of Athens. Since the antiquity
Piraeus
was the most important port of Greece. Piraeus was connected with
Athens by a long wall the "Makra Tihi" . Remains of this wall can
been seen in many areas around the cost of Piraeus like in the Zea
area and in the Piraiki. Today is the main port of Greece and the
third in the world as for passenger traffic. From Piraeus departing
the Greek ferries to all the islands of Greece. The commercial
centre of Piraeus is around the port and around the King George
street and Passalimani.
The main markets of Piraeus is also at the port area. The
Terminal of the Metro located just opposite the main gates of the
Port near Karaiskaki square.
