Nisyros island is a small volcanic island of the Dodecanese. It was
formed from volcanic eruptions, which are linked to its history. First
residents were the Kares, as well as inhabitants from , Thessaly Kos and
Rhodes. Nisyros linked by ferries with Piraeus, Rhodes and with Kos daily in
the summer. If you have a boat you can berth it in Mandraki or the
picturesque fishing village of Palos. In Mandraki you will find most of the
hotels and other accommodations like rooms and self catering studios.
Capital and main port of Nisyros is Mandraki, in the northwest of the
island, at the foot of a hill. The white houses create a strong contrast
with the dark volcanic soil. Many houses retain the colours of the stone.
East of the capital are the hot springs known for their curative sources and
still operating today. The most popular beaches and the baths are located
east of Paloi,a picturesque fishing village, built on an open bay with a
beautiful beach and a small fishing port bind and tourist boats.
Inside the island is the Emporios. Built in an area full of olive trees,
fruit trees, and vineyards and there is a source of hot steam with
therapeutic properties.
The beach of Chochlakoi is in Mantraki, another nice beach with crystal
clear waters is the White sand. On the excursion boat, will go to the
islands and Glass St Antony to swim in different beaches.
Nikki: In Avlaki coast is rocky.
The long beach of the village of Paloi has a long beach with sand, pebbles
and trees, divided, in the beaches of Katsouni, Lies and Pachia ammos.
