Heraklion Airport

Heraklio is the Capital city of Crete. Being one of the most important cities and ports of Greece Heraklio consequently has one of the busiest airports of Greece. Heraklio with Chania are also connected by ferries with Athens. Crete is the garden of Greece and one of the main export areas of the country. The fertile ground of Crete producing high quality Olive Oil, wines, tomatoes, Oranges and many other kind of farming and dairy products. Very near to Heraklion is the Ancient Palace of Knossos one of the most important monuments of the Minoan civilization that flourished in Crete 3000 years ago. Heraklion as well with the rest of Crete is a popular holiday destination for tourists. The Heraklion airport Nikos Kazantzakis (named after the famous writer and philosopher Kazantzakis the Author of 'Zorba the Greek' and many other world famous novels), has international and charter flight connections with most of the European countries.
